Multiple Intelligence - Our Curricular Backbone

We follow the theory of Multiple intelligences in our curriculum.

Howard Gardner in the early 1980s published this ingenious theory, which helps educators to enhance the various intelligences in children. Gardner believed human intelligence was not just one general ability but a suite of eight different abilities which occur in children and adults.

These abilities are:

We have successfully placed the entire pre-school curriculum under these eight intelligences. This allows us to provide a unique learning experience to each and every child in our school.

Having the Multiple intelligences as a back bone in the curriculum, our teachers are able to assess and understand children's different preferred ways of learning. For example, whilst one child may prefer a verbal explanation, another may prefer "hands-on learning, while yet another may prefer to follow pictures or diagrams.

Hence the Multiple intelligence curriculum helps us to tailor make every day learning at school to most accurately match every single child's level of learning and their individual educational needs.
